Checklist: Documents You Need to Unfreeze Your Account

Having the right documents ready before you approach the bank or cyber cell makes a huge difference. Here is a complete checklist.

Identity & KYC Documents (always required): - Aadhaar card (front and back) - PAN card - Passport-size photographs (2–4 copies) - Address proof if address has changed

Account & Transaction Documents: - Bank statement for the last 6–12 months (from the frozen account) - Passbook copy - Cheque book (for reference)

For Cyber Complaint Freezes: - FIR/complaint number (obtained from bank or cyber cell) - FIR copy if available - Screenshots or proof showing you did not initiate the flagged transaction - Proof of the legitimate purpose of the transaction (e.g. sale receipt, invoice, contract)

For Suspicious Transaction Freezes: - Source of funds proof: - Salary slips (last 3–6 months) for employment income - ITR / Form 16 for annual income - Sale deed or agreement for property proceeds - Loan disbursement letter for loan credits - Invoice / contract for freelance or business income - Bank statement of the sender (if the flagged transaction came from someone you know)

For Lien / Legal Hold: - Copy of the court order / notice received - Any response you've already filed - Advocate's letter if you have legal representation

Tips: - Make 2 sets of self-attested photocopies of everything. - Carry originals for verification but only leave copies. - Write "Self Attested" on each photocopy and sign. - Keep a copy of everything you submit — including the acknowledgement receipt. - Follow up in writing (email or letter) — avoid relying only on verbal assurances.
